To prevent any disputes between PCs about whose character is strongest, fastest, etc., an attribute system will be implemented. Upon character creation each character will be assigned attributes. It is important to be aware of these, especially in a battle. It would be wise for any participating combatants to post their attributes at the start of a battle for others to see. If an NPC is battling, you can easily figure out it's base stats by checking a pokedex site such as Serebii and using the table below.
Note that having a higher attribute (or even all attributes) doesn't mean guaranteed victory. Pokemon battling is about strategy and type advantages and disadvantages. The point of this system is to bring awareness to Role Players of the unique talents of individual Pokemon, not to make this into a strict mathematical game like the RPG.
The six attributes are:
Health- Vitality, the extent of how much damage the Pokemon can take before being KO'ed.
Attack - Physical strength, used for attacks that involve hitting, cutting, etc.
Defense - Physical toughness, how hard the body is.
Special Attack - Mental/Spiritual based strength, often reflecting a Pokemon's intellect, to attack with projectiles, beams, energy, etc.
Special Defense - the ability to endure Special moves, mental fortitude or a special property of the body to ward off energy attacks.
Speed - the ability to move quickly, agility.
Attributes will be expressed by 0-6 stars (*). These are based on intervals of the actual base stats of the Pokemon from the official RPGs. In general, they will follow this format:
<30 = [0] 30-69 = * 70-89 = ** 90-109 = *** 110-129 = **** >130 = *****
In order to max out an attribute, it must already have a base of at least four (****), then you must buy the fifth and sixth stars. No Pokemon will start out with any attribute at six stars. When increasing attributes through buying them with currency, you can jump more than one star but you have to pay for all of the intervening levels. For details on star prices, please check the shop.
Here's an example of base attributes:
Umbreon
Health *** Attack * Defense *** Special Attack * Special Defense **** Speed *
In RPG terms, Umbreon is a defensive Pokemon. It's strength is to take a lot of hits. It's base HP is 95, which is generally high. It's Attack, Special Attack, and Speed are all ~60, and there are few Pokemon with any stats lower than that. Umbreon does have one of the highest Special Defenses in the entire game with 130, outmatched by only a few non-legendaries (seven to be precise). It's Defense is not far behind that at 110.
Now to prevent Umbreon from being untrue to the universe of Pokemon, there has to be a cap so a PC couldn't make their Umbreon have the maxed out Attack. You can buy no more than two increases in a single attribute.
Usually, but not always, by evolving a Pokemon it's base stats will increase. When you create a Pokemon, a moderator will assign base Attributes for all of it's evolutions. If you buy stars and then evolve a Pokemon, they are not lost. They are just added on to the new base Attribute.
Also, if you are one of the three original Sanctum members, that means you are faster, stronger, and more intelligent that any normal Pokemon. This does not mean that you can have more stars, but each star will be multiplied by 2. Therefore meaning that your Pokemon is two times stronger in every category. Remember, this only applies to the three original sanctum members.
